Google Chrome Reopen Closed Window

SOLUTION: Google Chrome process will not close; Chrome will not re-open. If this doesn’t work, reenable all plugins, then navigate next to chrome:extensions and disable all extensions next. Repeat the close/open process to see if the behavior persists. If this still doesn’t work, now that you’ve ruled out any plugin/extension issues.

If you share your computer with others, you should delete the data from recently closed tabs in your Google Chrome browser to keep your information secure. When you close a tab while browsing the Web with Google Chrome, the URL and cached data from the sites you visited in the tabbed window are saved in several locations. To completely delete all data for recently closed tabs, clear all history, cache, URLs and thumbnails associated with the sites browsed in the tabs you closed. Clear sites in the browser‘s Most Visited page and then delete the history and cache.

Clear Most Visited Page

1.

Click the “New Tab” icon to the right of the last open tab in Google Chrome. The New Tab page opens to display your “Most Visited” thumbnails from recent sites. If the Most Visited page is collapsed, the link will display in the lower left corner of the New Tab page. Click the “Most Visited” link to expand the page.

Hover the cursor over an individual thumbnail to reveal the “X” in the upper right corner of the image.

Click the “X” to delete the thumbnail. The site is removed from the Most Visited page. You can also drag the thumbnail into the “Remove From Chrome” area in the bottom right corner of the browser to delete the image.

4.Restore closed window chrome

Repeat to remove all desired thumbnails from the New Tab page.

Clear Recently Closed List, History and Cache

1.

Click the “Chrome” button on the top toolbar in Google Chrome.

2.Google Chrome Reopen Closed Window

Click the “History” option to open the Browser History list.

Hover the cursor over the entry for the first page you visited in the closed tabs. A check box for the page appears. Click the check box to select it.

4.

Repeat the process for each page in your History list to remove.

5.

Click the “Remove Selected Items” option and then click “OK” to delete the selected pages.

Tips

  • You can also press the “Ctrl” and the “T” keys simultaneously to open the New Tab page in the browser.
  • To remove all browsing data at once, click “Tools” in the Chrome menu and then click “Clear Browsing Data.” The Clear Browsing Data options are displayed. Check the check box next to “Clear Browsing Data” and then click “Beginning of Time.” Click “Clear Browsing Data.” Your entire browsing history is deleted.
