Is There A Ios Control App For Pioneer Vsx Lx102

Update

For that price it is a very good AVR. I was expecting the Pioneer iControl AV5 app to work with the LX102 but it does not. You can look on the Pioneer website for compatibility. It does however work with the Pioneer remote app which is ok. The best feature is the equalizer which makes a huge difference.

I have the 302 model and it's been working fine for the past few weeks. I updated the firmware via the wired connection during initial setup and it has the latest version (1050-7010-2040-0008). Probably explains why I couldn't update using a USB drive.
Anyway, I had no issues casting audio through Google music or with Bluetooth using the Radio Paradise app. For some reason this morning I can't get either of the options to work. It's like daylight savings screwed it up or something. haha.
The wired network connection is still good but when I choose Bluetooth from the Pioneer remote app, it shows my phone's name on the receiver but that's it. I also can't cast through the Chrome browser or Google music.
Anyone else having issues recently? I'm thinking of doing a reset..

Welp, just reset it by holding the on button for 5 seconds and the unit reinitialized and it's working again. Good to know resetting works.

I am having the exact same issue. Have you ever found a solution or just accepted it doesn't work?
  • I can cast to the receiver just fine using any app on my phone that supports casting.
  • The receiver appears as a cast-able device within the Home app.
  • When I go into the Home app settings, into TV and Speakers, hit the plus icon, the Receiver appears. When I select it and hit Add, it goes back to the list of devices but the receiver never appears. It's as if I never selected it.

It just doesn't look like the Google Home and the LX102 can work together despite the Pioneer firmware upgrade page saying it can. (I can't post links yet, just google search 'pioneer vsx-lx102 google home' and it will come up.)
Furthermore, the update will allow owners to request music and audio content by voice for streaming playback on their supported Pioneer components when used in conjunction with Google Home or other to-be-released devices featuring Google Assistant. Listeners can select a streaming service, specific song or album, adjust volume, and perform other playback operations using voice commands.

i just returned a Harman HK3770. im now looking at the LX102. is Pioneer still good? im hooking it up to a pair of Klipsch Chorus II’s. all i was looking for with the Harman was a simple great 2 channel receiver that i could plug the optical out from my TV, but with limited PCM decoding, no FLAC (or lossless) support, a flimsy remote and a host of other issues i had to return it. any reccomendations?

I used to be a die hard Pioneer fan until now I have very mixed feelings about it. Pioneer hasn't been the same since Onkyo acquired them a few years ago, the sound is still great but durability blows nowadays. I have the VSX-532 model which is a basic 5 channel receiver but in just one month, one of the HDMI ports is failing (sound works but no picture) so I had to plug my Fire TV directly to the TV and just use the receiver's ARC feature. Pioneer is slowly suffering from the same infamous issue as Onkyo, weak unreliable HDMI boards.

Yammy’s are supposed to be built solid and have a reputation for reliability and a lot of people swear by them.
I had an RX-A2020 but my front R, center and surround R all went out on me about a month after the 3 year warranty ran out so I just ended up replacing it with the Pioneer VSX-LX302 since I got a decent Black Friday deal on it for $399. So far it’s been running ok but it doesn’t get a lot of use.
What’s your budget? If you can go $600, check out the Denon X3300, lot of bang for the buck and has Audyssey XT32.

Besides Yamaha, I hear plenty of good feedback about Denon and Marantz too. Sony A/V receivers I hear fairly mixed things about them where some really enjoyed it, others found it too complicated & complex. So if I was getting rid of my Pioneer, I'll probably switch over to Denon.

I have a the VSX-LX102 I picked up a few weeks ago and I love it - just what I needed at a good value.
My question or concern is there is a slight audio delay on NetFlix or any other streaming source (YouTube TV) when ever I start a program, or skip around. Is this normal?

From my experience, I've only encountered the audio delay once when I switched from cable to 4K player, haven't seen it again since so far.

Yea, that I could expect because its switching sources. This is actually from the same stream. Skipping back on NetFlix or when a commercial comes on YouTube Tv, around a second of delay before I hear audio.

I am able to use my cast commands, but I believe it's because I'm casting to my TV and not the receiver. I find that the built in application with the receiver is very slow. For me I'll say OK Google play album reputation by Taylor Swift on TV. In no time it fires right up. I was under the impression I had the latest firmware update, but I'll check it again. Honestly, I have been very happy with the receiver. The only reason I might take it back is that I just upgraded my fronts and I was going to hook up an amplifier to run them and I'm not sure this amp will support that. Other than that I've been super pleased with the unit.

I have the Pioneer VSX-LX102 connected a new Sony Bravia XBR-65X900E. I have connected the VSX to the Sony HDMI 3 / ARC jack and the audio comes through just fine. However, it won't let the video signal through. The TV is showing a 'No Signal' message. I have adjusted every setting I can find, unpowered, repowered, updated firmware, etc. The same thing is happening with a connected blue ray player - great audio, no video. When the VSX is turned off, the cable audio and signal comes through the VSX.
What do I have set incorrectly? Any suggestions welcome.

i just brought the VSX-LX302 is more powerful than my onkyo trx 646 slightly better sound
i didn't realize there was an elite model whats the difference between them 2? i ve searched the net i couldn't really find anything ..
i am kind of disappointed that there's no light or status light shows up Dolby atmos or DTS X which the onklyo had
the only way can check by pushing the info on the remote ,like this should be standard where other receivers show ' what port' and 'what format sound ' u on at the same time

Hi Everyone
I just ordered the vsx-lx302 yesterday, which will be my first Pioneer.
Someone else in this thread mentioned that this receiver doesn’t show the type of audio on the front display that you are listening to when watching tv/movies etc.
Is that still correct and is there a setting to have that show on the front?
I want it to always show dts-hd ma or Dolby Atmos (for example). Thank in advance

I hope a firmware fix comes for using the dual output to the tv with a 4k DolbyVision bluray player. I just picked up the Sony x700 last night, been following that thread since it's inception, and found even this receiver has an issue when DV is turned on in the 4k player and you have the receiver set to the dual output with DV using the Main HDMI output. I had to set the Receiver to just use the Main HDMI output in order to get a picture from the x700 after doing a firmware update. I'll have to do some more testing since I just wanted to watch IT in DV while eating last night.

BE AWARE: Latest Firmware Broke Dolby Vision Pass Through ..for me
LX102 Firmware Update: Version 1070-9020-0060-0010, released June 5, 2018 broke what was a working 4K 60Hz Dolby Vision pass through from an Apple TV 4K to the Pioneer LX102 then out to a Sony 940E.
Doesn't matter if the receiver is on or off the pass through of a 4K 60Hz Dolby Vision signal no longer works. Bypassing the receiver all together with an HDMI direct from the Apple TV 4K to the Sony 940E gives me back 4K 60Hz Dolby Vision. Thus confirming the only change which broke 4K 60Hz Dolby Vision was the new firmware. It worked perfectly fine (with the receiver both on and off) just prior to the update using the previously released firmware dating back to March 2018.
At this time it does not appear you can revert back to an older firmware.
-------------------------------------------
Contacted Pioneer, their support suggested a bunch of things to try and then finally a factory reset. Did the factory reset and everything seems to once again be working.

Hi Everyone, I recently picked up an lx302 to replace an old integra that developed the hdmi no sound problem (broke again after a reflow, and I needed 4k support anyway).
Everything is great, except for one thing when I am watching TV.
The setup is a cisco time warner/spectrum cable box connected to the receiver, via HDMI. Then the receiver HDMI out is connected to HDMI 1 on my samsung ks8000. Whenever the source changes from using dolby mixed audio to stereo, the receiver makes a clicking sound, like when I switch inputs, and changes the output to stereo. I can tell because the speaker icons on the front all disappear except for the 2 stereo speakers. Is there any surround mode I can set that will cause the receiver to convert the stereo in to surround? I wouldn't care except the clicking can be annoying when it happens every 30 seconds because commercials are all mixed differently. Or, is there a setting on the receiver to force it to mix the stereo input? Or is it a setting on the cable box?
I googled and I didn't see much about this problem so apologies if it has been covered already.
Thanks!

Your cable box will have sound settings on it for sound output. Make sure those are correct first, then we can dive into the audio settings on the receiver. I know my receiver make a click sound every so often while watching material. No change in sound output though, so I figure its just an amp or something with electricity going on that can't be helped in this model.

I checked, and the only option i have under Audio is 'Audio/SAP'. In that menu the only choice is 'Digital' and inside Digital, I can choose 'Primary Language' or 'Secondary Language'.
I didn't see any audio settings in the high definition menu.
What am I looking for? Some sort of stereo / surround output option? I don't know where else to look. It's a cisco 4742hdc.

Looks like your cable box only has the couple of options for output. Found this info for your cable box:
(
Important Notes Regarding the HDMI Interface on the Set-Top
The HDMI interface automatically confi gures the audio output for a format supported by the television. Because not all
TVs support the Dolby Digital input, the HDMI interface may automatically select a 2-channel stereo audio confi guration
instead of Dolby Digital, which it carries over to the other digital audio outputs of the set-top. This prevents your home
theater system or Dolby Digital decoder from providing the full Dolby Digital surround-sound eff ect.
You can override this confi guration by completing the following steps.
1. Press SETTINGS twice on the remote control to open the General Settings menu.
Vsx2. Press MOVE UP or MOVE DOWN to select the option Audio: Digital Out.
3. Press MOVE RIGHT to select Dolby Digital. This setting will send Dolby Digital audio to the HDMI, DIGITAL AUDIO
OUT, and OPTICAL AUDIO OUT connectors on the set-top.
Notes:
• If the TV is not Dolby Digital capable, it may not produce audio through its speakers when the Audio: Digital Out
setting on the set-top is set to Dolby Digital. You can either switch the Audio: Digital Out setting back to HDMI
when you are not using the home theater or Dolby Digital decoder, or you can connect the baseband audio
outputs (OUT 1 Audio Left and Right) to the TV.
• Digital content is encrypted with High-Bandwidth Content Protection (HDCP) on the DVI/HDMI port. This set-top
is not compatible with devices that do not support HDCP. You must use either the YPbPr or 1394 connection to
connect the set-top to these devices.
)
As far as the receiver up-mixing commercials to surround sound, I will be honest, I don't watch tv 99% of the time through my cable box. Sad, I know, since I get all the channels. I'm fairly certain the receiver can take the signal of a Stereo input and output it through all of the speakers in a 5.1 setup, but I don't remember what mode the receiver has to be in to do that, and if you do do that, then your surround sound won't be working as surround sound since everything would come out all the speakers. I'll have to watch some actual tv tonight and see how it works out on my setup.

I believe I have this doing what I want now, by setting Dolby Surround while listening to a 5.1 source. It isn't changing to stereo anymore. However the manual is really unclear about what 'Dolby Surround' actually means. I hope it isn't overriding the signal from the source - but it sounds good to my ears so I'm happy. I do wish I could get auto surround to work, but oh well.
